What is Unearthed Past ?
Unearthed Past is a family history tracing service based in Oxfordshire and here to help you find out more about your heritage and help you discover interesting information about people you know about and those you may not. I offer custom tailor made services to research exactly what you are looking for. You may wish to trace your maternal side of you family, your paternal side of you family, or both. You may only wish to know about certain generations or more specific topics such as births, deaths, marriages or military service.
You may already have been researching your past, but have hit a “brick wall” and need some help, then I will be more than willing to assist you.
With the recent lockdown people seem to have become more interested in finding out about their past. There have been several television series tracing family history that have also strengthened peoples desire to learn more about their past and heritage.
The desire to find out more about your past often develops in the later years of life. You may then find that the people you need to speak to are no longer around. You then think to yourself, that you wished you have asked the questions when others were around to answer. This can lead to more questions that need to be resolved. This is where Unearthed Past can assist.
People often start off with good intentions to find out about their past. However, they may soon find out that the process is far more time consuming and complex than they first thought. It is possible that you may need to use many different sources of information from websites and reference publications and also contact various agencies around the country. Google can be a great help, but many a link will lead you to a site that requires you to be a member and to use paid for services and then you need to know how to navigate these sites to find what you are looking for.
What sort of information can be found?
Ever wondered who your relations were?
Where your relations lived and where they moved to?
What work did your past family do?
Was anyone in your family famous?
Did anyone in your family serve in the military? Were they killed in action or awarded medals or mentioned in despatches?
Were they convicted of a crime or even transported to Australia and beyond?
Contrary to popular belief, I have discovered that people did travel far more than many people think. So a relative who died in one part of the country, may have originated in another part and travelled around. You may find that having your traced will give you new insights on your past and you may discover distant and not so distant relatives you never knew existed.
